>> bart trains are running and riders are reacting this morning after governor brown stepped in at the 11th hour to avert a strike.for now. and good thing bart is running this morning because the bay bridge is a major hot spot after a big- rig caught fire less than an hour ago.

be less fog as we head into the weekend. >> bart trains are running today and at least for the next week. last night, and governor jerry brown issued an order for an investigation into the contract dispute between bart management and its unions. that means there will not be a strike for seven days and that trains will be running this morning. first you'll hear from bart management and then the president from one of the unions. the board is required to report back to the governor within seven days, and all parties are prohibited from any strikes or lockouts while the inquiry is in progress. let's go live now to kron four's will tran. he's at the west oakland bart station getting reaction from riders this morning. >> people had to set their alarm clocks earlier because they thought they would have

to last through the 2014 season. but that a-rod can keep playing while he contests the decision. he's expected to return today from an injury. he has admitted to using p-e-d's in the past but says he hasn't since 2004 at 275-million-dollars over 10 years, alex rodriguez signed the biggest-ever contract in american sports. there are 13 other players also facing suspension. brewers star ryan braun has already accepted a 65 game suspension as part of this investigation. this is the largest mass suspension since the chicago black sox.where 8 players were suspended on allegations they threw the 1919 world series. we'll talk more about the invetigation when we have gary's world at 7:45. >> los angeles police have arrested a man suspected of driving into a busy crowd of people on the venice beach boardwalk. killing a woman and injuring 11 others.

burned up and jackie stated that he spoke with a tow truck driver who stated that they may not be able to get this break told out of the way and that they may have to put on a lowboy. there is a caltran inspector on the scene as well because there is concern about road after this fire. the flames were so intense that it may be problems with the damage to the pavement. here is what happened about an hour ago. it blew a tire westbound exit street. the fire caught fire which cost the rest of the cab to catch fire. then the whole thing just blew up. the fire department is still sprain for hotspots. they are still wbe working

francis drake is not backed up as you try to connect to the san rafael bridge. >> we are waking up to temperatures in the '50s. take a look at concord. it is a chilly start for this monday morning. the temperatures are still below where we should be this time of year. you'll notice by 3:00 p.m. that although it will be sunny it still will be cool. futurecast 4 is tracking the temperatures for your neighborhood. we're holding on to play 50s and side the bay. we will start to see 60's along the delta and portions of the south. a lot of the 70 degree readings will turn to 80s.

york city and triple digits for dallas. cooler than usual temperatures will continue but we will rebound in the weekend comes. >> a flight had to make an emergency landing at san franicso international airport over the weekend. united airlines flight 8-63 was heading to australia saturday night when one of the four engines on the plane failed. the engine failure happened shortly after take off. the pilot managed to turn around and land safely back at s-f-o. it is unclear at this time what caused the engine to fail. >> san mateo police are searching for a 16-year-old boy who walked away from a juvenile detention facility.

the boy left the log cabin youth camp, a minimum security facility in la honda around 6:30 last night. he is described as a black male wearing a burgundy shirt and tan pants. the sheriff's office is asking the public to call 9- 1-1 if you see the boy, and warn to not approach the teen. >> police have identified the woman who was shot and killed in downtown san jose early saturday morning. just after one a-m, police say 19-year-old kimberly joyce was shot by someone outside the car she was riding in near south second and east san salvador streets. the driver, a 21- year-old man who was not hit, stopped the car and called 9-1-1 joyce was transported to regional medical center where she died. it is unclear why the shooting took place and whether it was gang-related. no suspects have yet been identified or arrested. the homicide marks the city's 30th of the year. >> a california minister has been sentenced to nine years in state prison for raping a woman in his home. 60-year-old derrick dwayne brooks was sentenced friday in contra costa county superior court. in may, a jury convicted brooks of charges that included rape and assult.

brooks was a minister at the lighthouse full gospel church pentecostal in san francisco. >> new york police say an officer shot and killed a 14-year-old boy -- who had shot at another person. n-y-p-d says the officer fired only after the teen did not drop his weapon when asked. this is video surveillance outside of a liquor store of the 14-year-old going after the other person. the teen, identified as shaaliver douse, was hit in the jaw and died at the scene. the officer was hired in january and was patrolling a so-called "impact" area, which means it has high crime rates. the investigation is ongoing. >> closing arguments in the trial of reputed boston mob boss james "whitey" bulger are set to begin today. bulger erupted during proceedings friday, angrily addressing the judge and calling his murder trial "a sham." during the trial, jurors have heard from some 72 witnesses over 35 days. bulger is accused of participating in 19 murders, racketeering, money
